1981’s Diseases Riddim comes out of the classic Mad Mad lineage and is tied here to a mixed set of labels and producers, with Henry Lawes, Chris Cracknell, Tommy Cowan, Bobby Konders, Steve Grant, Singing Prince and Wayne Goodas all credited across the versions. The early cut side includes Clint Eastwood and General Saint’s Jack Spratt and Cocoa Tea’s Lost My Sonia, while later revivals bring in Burro Banton’s Washington Session and Boomwadis, Beres Hammond’s Kill Dem Again, and Flourgon’s Search No More. Built on a riddim first associated with Michigan and Smiley’s Diseases, this set shows how the pattern kept moving across dancehall generations, from Volcano and Jah Guidance to Massive B, Wings, Logon Street Vibes and Goodas.
