Sizzurp Riddim – Fat Eyes Productions

Fat Eyes usually had a nose for rugged, roots-leaning dancehall, so Sizzurp comes across with a lighter, cheekier swing, riding a playful mid-tempo groove that leaves room for hooks and attitude rather than brute force. The lineup is a nice spread of voices: Vybz Kartel turns up on “Sipping Sizzurp” with Nuclear, Wayne Wonder links with Chicken on “Take It Off, ” and Sizzla’s “Dash Away” gives the set a harder edge, while Delly Ranx and Lukie D keep the rhythm’s bounce moving from one cut to the next. There’s a bit of crossover energy here too, with Tony Curtis teaming with Futur and Courtney John slipping in with “I Can Get It Done, ” which adds some melodic polish to the darker dancehall flavour. The set lands in 2007 and runs through 11 tracks, with every cut credited to Fat Eyes Productions.
