Built for King Jammy’s Jammy’s, Real Music in 1987, Sit Down Pon It Riddim comes straight out of the late-80s dancehall run and pulls together a strong cast of voices, led by Pinchers on the title cut alongside Anthony Malvo, Capleton, Frankie Paul, Luciano, Terry Ganzie, Shinehead, and Vybz Kartel on the later cut Love Chair. The original Pinchers selection gives the riddim its name, while tunes like Greedy Woman, Bad Mind, More Money, and Jah Ears Only show how widely the rhythm traveled across different styles and eras. Jammy was already deep into the digital dancehall sound by this point, and this set sits neatly in that period of sharp, bass-heavy productions that helped define his catalog.
