SINGLE BARREL RIDDIM produced by PRECISION PRODUCTIONS (SOCA) 2012
Single Barrel Overview
When the Single Barrel Riddim dropped in 2012, fans quickly made it a favorite at every fete. The mix of classic and modern island sounds brought a fresh energy to Carnival that year. Partygoers loved how the riddim kept the dancefloor moving, and it soon became a must-play at major events. Each artist brought their own style to the project. Nebula868’s “Fete Hard” became a call to party, with its catchy hook and high energy. Gabrielle’s “Wild” stood out for its bold vocals and playful spirit. Kes The Band, led by Kees Dieffenthaller, added “Rum & Soca,” blending smooth melodies with the band’s signature groove. Kes The Band is well known for their hit “Wotless,” which won the International Soca Monarch title in 2011. Blaxx delivered “Hold Meh Liquor,” showing off the powerful voice that made him a staple in soca music. Destra Garcia, often called the “Queen of Bacchanal,” brought her dynamic stage presence to “Wassyness.” Destra is famous for her hit “Lucy,” which has been a Carnival anthem in its own right. The riddim was shaped by PRECISION PRODUCTIONS (SOCA), a label and production team from Trinidad and Tobago. Led by producer Kasey Phillips, Precision has worked on many major soca hits and is respected for pushing the sound of modern soca forward. Looking back, the Single Barrel Riddim captured the spirit of Carnival 2012. Its blend of artists, songs, and lively production made it one of the year’s unforgettable anthems.
