Silicon Riddim

Admiral Cim’s “Tere” is the sharpest way into Silicon Riddim, a five-track 2003 dancehall set that keeps the focus tight and the energy clipped. The riddim has that early-2000s digital snap: lean, metallic percussion, a rubbery low end, and enough space for the deejays to jab through the mix without crowding it. Around Admiral Cim, Apach’s “Siliconn? e” pushes the harsher side of the rhythm, while Daddy Mory’s “Babylon” and Gal Mc’s “Ready” lean into the streetwise, chant-heavy side of the tune. Supa John and Lee Vaya’s “Be” sits somewhere in the middle, giving the project a bit more lift. With only five voices on board, Silicon Riddim feels like a compact snapshot of a period when dancehall was chasing futuristic textures but still wanted the clash and bite of the dance.
