Seekout Overview
When Seekout Riddim arrived in 2013, its yard beat quickly became a favorite at dancehall parties. The riddim’s energy stood out, bringing together artists like Ata Ru, Erup, and Esco, each adding their own style. Ata Ru’s “Praises To The King” brought a spiritual touch, while Erup, known for his hit “Click Mi Finger,” gave fans “Wanna Be Free.” Esco, who once collaborated with Leftside on the popular “Tuck In U Belly,” dropped “Never Fail” on this compilation. Compared to other dancehall compilations from the same era, Seekout Riddim had a sharper, more driving sound. Other riddims sometimes focused on smoother melodies or pop influences, but Seekout Riddim kept the bashment vibe strong, making it a selector’s favorite for dancehall sessions. Fyakin’s “On N’ On” added a conscious message, and I Wayne Ft. Keekee Capone teamed up for “Danger,” bringing I Wayne’s roots reggae voice together with Keekee Capone’s fresh style. Keekee Capone also delivered her own version, “Danger — Danger,” showing her range as an artist. Jahbert’s “Time Is Going” and Wayne Marshall’s “Jah Bless Mi” added more depth and positive vibes to the project. Behind the scenes, the mixing board king played a big part in shaping the sound. ALEADA RECORDS, the producer, is known for supporting authentic dancehall and giving new artists a platform. Their work on Seekout Riddim helped keep the original dancehall spirit alive. Even today, DJs spin tracks like “Seekout Riddim Version” to keep the 2013 energy going strong. This compilation remains a key part of dancehall history.
