By late 2019, In. Digg. Nation Collective was already shaping its own corner of modern reggae, and Rock and Groove sat right in that run with a tidy four-song juggling and dub set. The title cut from Jaz Elise has that warm, rootsy swing that leaves room for her smooth phrasing, while Sevana’s “Haul and Pull” leans a little tougher and more playful, with a bounce that keeps it moving. Naomi Cowan’s “Peace Of Mind” brings the lightest touch of the bunch, and Lila Iké’s “Sweet Inspiration” is the kind of tune that feels instantly at home on a speaker box. Produced by Protoje and Jason Farmer, the riddim was released on December 5, 2019, and it also marked one of the clearer early statements from this all-female wave around the collective.
