Rise Overview

In 1995, a new dancehall collection came out of Jamaica and quickly made its mark on the scene. The sound was fresh and full of street energy, and it was built around the bashment rhythm—a beat that soon became a key part of dancehall music that year. The collection brought together some standout artists. Action Man delivered the track "Leggo The Youth Dem," bringing his signature voice and style. Design, known for his energetic performances, added "Soccer Game Wife League" to the mix. Fire Lion teamed up with Jahmore for the song "Rise." Jahmore, by this time, was already known for his collaborations with other reggae and dancehall artists, and his work on "Rise" helped boost the song’s popularity. Behind the scenes, the producer Cynthia Hough worked for Di Next Generation, a label with a strong presence in the 1990s dancehall world. Cynthia Hough was known for her ability to spot new talent and bring out the best in artists. Her production style helped give the collection its raw, streetwise sound. The engineer on the project played a big role too, making sure every track sounded sharp and clear. Altogether, this dancehall collection captured the energy of the streets and became a favorite at parties and dances across Jamaica.
