Right Size Riddim – Mr. Take Care of Business Records 1997
Right Size Overview
The Right Size Riddim came out on the Shocking Vibes label, a name that was already well known in Jamaican music. In 1997, this dancehall set brought serious energy to the scene and quickly became a favorite at parties and dances. The line-up on this release was strong. Captain Barkey delivered “Mr Right Size,” a track that had people talking. Captain Barkey was already known for his 1991 hit “Go Go Wine,” and he brought his same lively style to this tune. Frisco Kid followed with “Follow Friend.” Frisco Kid had made a name for himself with songs like “Rubbers,” and he was one of the rising voices of the late '90s dancehall. Ninja Kid & Hornsman teamed up for “No Man Can't Slap We,” giving the riddim another layer of energy. Tuffest added his own flavor with “She Get Played.” Each artist brought their own style, but all fit the riddim perfectly. The production work came from the Shocking Vibes studio team, known for shaping the sound of dancehall in the 1990s. Patrick Roberts, the head of Shocking Vibes, was behind many big hits, helping to push dancehall forward. Right Size Riddim was everywhere in 1997, making it a soundtrack for epic nights and keeping dancehall buzzing all year long.
