The cut runs on a dark, skanking pulse that leaves space for voices like Gappy Ranks on “Boom Draw, ” Da Fuchaman on “Henging Tree, ” and Dark Angel across three tracks, each of them riding the rhythm with a different angle. Subtifuge also shows up in a bigger way here, which fits the label’s habit of treating producer, selector, and vocalist as part of the same circle rather than separate lanes.
