Reverse Riddim (2007) – Seanizzle Records

Seanizzle was still carving out his name in Kingston’s dancehall circuit when the Reverse riddim landed in 2007, and the juggling has that early Seanizzle snap: tough, forward-driving drums, a brash hook in the title idea, and enough room for the singers and deejays to stamp their own character on it. Beenie Man’s “Reverse Di Ting” and Busy Signal’s “Counteraction” set the tone with sharp, confrontational energy, while Delly Ranks, D’Angel and Tony Matterhorn keep the pace lively without letting the rhythm lose its edge. There’s a bit of extra scene texture here too, with DJ Reverse and the crew of cut-through voices giving the project a gritty, road-ready feel. The strongest moment is Beenie Man’s opener, which cuts straight through the riddim and gives the whole set its anchor.
