Reggae Attack Babylon Riddim – Granite

Granite’s Reggae Attack Babylon Riddim comes in with a lean, rootsy swing and a hard edge, the kind of one-drop groove that leaves plenty of room for the singers to lean into the message. Capleton’s “Sell Out” leads the charge with that familiar fire-and-brimstone bite, while Chuck Fenda’s “Free Up The Music” keeps the pressure on with a freer, more uplifted chant. I-Influence’s “Inna Di City” rounds out the three-cut set and adds a younger voice to the mix. Issued in 2013, the riddim sits in that period when conscious reggae singles were still finding space to hit radio and sound systems without getting polished into something too soft.
