Going Home Riddim (2013) – Larger Than Life

On this 2013 Larger Than Life set, the label steps away from the more polished, name-heavy format it would later revisit and keeps things lean: four vocal cuts plus a version. Busy Signal and Exco Levi’s “Wicked Evil Man” is the obvious anchor, with Bobby Hustle’s “The Hunted” and Gappy Ranks’ “Free My Chains” giving the riddim a tougher, more conscious edge, while Chino’s “Larger Than Life” ties the whole thing back to the imprint. The production has that early-2010s roots-reggae snap, with a firm one-drop pulse, clipped guitar skank, and a bass line that stays low and rolling rather than busy. At just about 15 minutes, it moves quickly, and the 83 BPM pace leaves enough space for the voices to sit right on top of the groove.
