GOING HOME RIDDIM (RELOADED) – LARGER THAN LIFE RECORDS 2014
Larger Than Life Records returned to its own 2013 Going Home rhythm for this reworked 2014 issue, and the update keeps the tune’s warm, rootsy pulse intact. The production has that easy mid-tempo glide built for conscious lyrics, with a mellow bass line, clean drum pattern, and enough space in the arrangement for each singer to sit in the pocket without crowding the cut.
The lineup is short but sharp: Capleton, Pressure Busspipe, and Luciano. Capleton’s “Wah A Dem A Do” brings his usual firebrand edge to the riddim, turning the track into a stern warning with his clipped phrasing and militant delivery. Pressure Busspipe’s “Just Perfect” eases into a more reflective lane, drawing on the clean, uplifted tone that has made the St. Thomas singer a strong fit for roots reggae in the digital era. Luciano’s “Miserable Woman” adds the veteran touch, with the Messenger leaning into the song’s social commentary and smooth melodic control.
Larger Than Life had already used the Going Home name a year earlier on a separate juggling that featured Chino, Busy Signal, Gappy Ranks, and Bobby Hustle, so this reloaded edition feels like a tighter, more streamlined return to the same concept. The emphasis here is less on volume and more on feel: a conscious reggae foundation that leaves room for strong voices and pointed lyrics. It is the kind of riddim that rewards singers who can carry message and melody in equal measure.
