Radio Play Riddim (2013) – Dread Efx Sound / Bassline Rock Music

Radio Play Riddim has that sharp, radio-ready dancehall snap that lives up to its name, but there’s a little more grit in the way Dread Efx Sound and Bassline Rock Music line it up. Froggy Maddsquad gets the first swing at it with “Weedy Weedy” and “Nah Move Wid Crowd, ” and the riddim seems happiest when the voicing stays loose and chatty rather than overworked. Zoo Rass and Di Great keep that energy rolling on “Body Good, ” while the raw “Punnany Big” version pushes the same idea a bit harder, which feels like the producer’s sweet spot here. There’s also a neat bonus in the Dread Efx version and Selecta Iriebrain’s medley mix, almost like the whole set was meant to move between speaker box and selector session.
