Punjabi Wedding Riddim – Vexxx Bad

Seven cuts and seven different voices give Punjabi Wedding Riddim a tidy, no-frills juggling feel, with Devin Di Dakta, Chan Dizzy, Kapshon, Chico, Zekedon, French and J Zero all taking a swing at the same Vexxx Bad pattern. Released in May 2018 on Vexxx Bad Records, the set sits in that mid-2010s dancehall pocket where the hook does a lot of the heavy lifting, and the titles alone hint at the playful, relationship-minded angle running through it. The production keeps the arrangement lean and percussive, with a bright synthetic lead over a rolling bass line that leaves room for the deejays to work quick, clipped phrases against the rhythm. Chan Dizzy’s “I Want To Love You” and Chico’s “Wedding Band” look like the most immediately memorable cuts, but the whole thing moves on a brisk, dancefloor-ready tempo that stays light on its feet.
