Promised Land Riddim (2020) – Justice Sound

Justice Sound’s Promised Land Riddim lands as a roots-heavy one-drop juggling with a classic sound system backbone: deep bass, steady drum pulse, and enough space for the singers to work the message. The project is tied to Justice Sound and Reggae Central, with Justice McPherson credited as producer, and it sits in the 2020 reggae-riddim run even though the set itself traces back to earlier material and circulation.

The line-up is stacked with veteran voices that know how to ride a conscious rhythm. Sizzla opens with “Catch the Place a Fire, ” a militant burner in his familiar high-register style. Capleton’s “Words of Mind” keeps the fire side alive, while Anthony B comes in with the sharper, more urgent “Stop Curfew. ” Jah Mason’s “High Grade” and Luciano’s “Should I Slumber” bring the more meditative end of the spectrum, and Michael Rose’s “Freedom Train” adds that seasoned, rootical calm only he can really carry.
