Akasha’s Lecturer Riddim arrived in 2020 on Happy As A Lark, pairing roots-minded reggae with a compact four-track format and a nice mix of voices from different corners of the style. The set brings together Ras I-Dre on Up Deh! , Ranking Joe on Jah Jah Hold Them, and King Tony on the dub cut Dub a Go Hold Them, with Akasha closing it out on Lecturer Riddim itself. The production also leans on a classic Jamaican foundation, with the label framing it as a long-running Lecturer rhythm that dates back to the late 1960s, which gives the release a vintage feel without sounding dated.
