Steve Smith Production kept Poster Riddim lean and local in 2011, cutting a six-track dancehall set that leans more toward street-level vibes than big crossover polish. Fyah Rebel’s “Cyar Sell Meh Out” has that stubborn, no-nonsense energy you want from a mid-tempo juggling, while Joe Ranking’s “Partytime” lightens things up with a playful party tone, and the Joe Ranking link-up on “Poster Girl” gives the riddim its clearest hook. Mr Platinum’s “Body And Soul” sits in the middle with a smoother, more melodic touch, which keeps the project from feeling one-note. The instrumental version helps, too, letting the raw riddim pattern breathe on its own. It’s a small release, but that was part of the early-2010s dancehall run: compact, functional, and built to work hard in the mix.
