Popcorn Riddim sits in Madmen Productions’ 2014 soca catalogue as a compact Carnival set tied to the KFC-backed campaign that pushed the riddim into Trinidad’s seasonal buzz. The production stays lean and road-ready: brisk percussion, a rubbery bassline, and a tidy groove that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to carry the energy. Blaxx’s “Whole Day” and Denise Belfon’s “No Restrictions” give it two of the strongest turns, while Olatunji’s “Fete A Lot” keeps the pressure on with that easy, chant-along momentum soca heads know well. Jw and Blaze add a lighter party cut in “Niceness, ” and Madmen’s own instrumental closes out the set cleanly.
