Madmen Productions leans into a brighter, more carnival-ready soca mood on Group Chat Riddim, a sharper turn from the heavier dancehall and crossover material the name sometimes turns up in later years. Erphaan Alves’ “My Time” gives the set an early lift, while Problem Child’s “Go Tell Yuh Mudda” and Leadpipe’s “Fete Masters (Soca Bad Guys)” keep the energy moving with quick-footed melodies and a steady bassline that leaves plenty of room for party chants and road fever. Keith Currency’s “Doh Come Around” adds a tougher edge to the four-song package, and the whole thing plays like a compact 2017 carnival tool rather than a sprawling compilation.
