2018 was still deep in the era of clean-versus-raw dancehall singles, and TP Records rode that lane with Party Shot Riddim, a compact juggling built for the dance. The rhythm leans on a brisk, skanking pulse with enough room for hooks to cut through, which suits Beenie Man’s “Over Again, ” Jah Vinci’s smoother “Smile Again, ” and Iyara’s sharper “Fava” especially well. GoodyPlum and Twinkle Brain each get the clean/raw treatment, giving the project a little extra swing and showing how the same beat can shift character depending on the vocal.
