MRM’s 1-32 Riddim comes in dark and compact, with a dry, knocking drum pattern and a lean bassline that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to cut through. Floyd West’s “Links All Bout” opens things with sharp-edged energy, while Artical and Classikal Eska keep the pressure on with tunes aimed at badmind, clean living, and everyday survival. Sand Boss goes a different route on “Dry Eyes, ” bringing in Mike Brooks and Ras Brando for a more roots-leaning moment that gives the set a little extra depth. The package also includes Highest Meds’ “No Watch Gal” and an instrumental from MrM Entertainment, and the whole thing sits neatly in that 2018 dancehall run where stripped-back riddims left the hooks and attitude to do the heavy lifting.
