Party Hard Riddim (2018) – J1 Production

Kalado is the name that jumps out first on Party Hard Riddim, and that’s no accident: his “Lifestyle” cut gives J1 Production’s 2018 juggling a proper centre of gravity, with the rest of the set leaning into lean, club-ready dancehall rather than anything too glossy. Bonnie Lin opens with “Boss Up, ” Chancela follows on “Ride, ” and Jbad’s “Know Dat” keeps the pace taut before Kr steps in with “Party Up. ” The second half gets a little more interesting, though, because Sentimental and Versi both appear twice with clean and raw versions, which gives “Mftu” and “Sacrosantc” extra room to breathe and lets the rougher edges come through. It’s Kalado’s “Lifestyle” that lands the hardest, though, and it leaves the riddim with a memorable hook in the final stretch.
