Parade Riddim came out of Stainless Records in early 2011 with a compact seven-track dancehall lineup and a clear local-studio feel, the kind of one-riddim set that leans on repetition and sharp vocal cuts rather than big conceptual framing. Gappy Ranks opens it with “Place Shell Down, ” and the sequence also pulls in Monsta Twins, Timeka Marshall, TOK, Wiski D and ZJ Liquid, with “2010 Year In Review” from Ice Cold adding a topical, almost recap-style twist to the project. Stainless is credited with the production, and the mix has that clean-but-rigid Kingston bounce, built around clipped drum programming, a nagging synth figure and a bass line that keeps everything moving without getting too busy. TOK’s “Yu Body Good” and ZJ Liquid’s “Hot Gyal Liar” sit especially well in that pocket, with the riddim holding a brisk, marching tempo underneath the vocal turns.
