Anthony Senior’s production has a dry, steady pulse and the sort of mid-tempo swing that leaves room for the singers to work the pocket; the title itself points to the overdub feel, and that comes through in the way the arrangement leans on lean bass, skanking guitar, and touches like Terran’s melodica version. Terry Ganzie’s “Hard Way” is the name that jumps out most, while Ziggi Recado’s “Too Long” and Askala Selassie’s “Warrior Empress” add some contrast in tone and delivery.
