Bikini Ape Records keeps the Onion Jerk Riddim in straight-up dancehall mode, with a rough, party-ready pulse that leaves plenty of room for the deejays to cut through. The selection moves from Johnny Roxx’s “Alcohol” and Melloquence’s “Galang Ya Gal” to the sharper hooks of Perfect Giddimani’s “Bombaclat” and Teacha Dee’s “Shell It Down, ” with Jami Dread, Charly B, Robbie Rule and Phantom filling out the set. It came out in September 2014 as an eight-track various-artist release, and the lineup leans more toward chant-along dancefloor energy than deep-rooted experimentation. Charly B’s “Champion Sound” and Perfect Giddimani’s cut are the ones that stick quickest.
