White Rum Riddim – Suh Far Records

2014 was deep in that lean, digital dancehall stretch, and White Rum Riddim sits right in it with a brisk, no-frills pulse from Suh Far Records. The cut feels sharp and fairly spare, more about forward motion and grit than big melodic hooks, so the vocals have room to punch through the rhythm. Eska Sui’s Whole Night Long brings the most immediate party energy, while J-One’s Death To Life and Kwik Silvah’s Street Life push the tougher edge of the project. Wisey Don closes things out with Cum Nuh, a track that keeps the same stern drive and leaves the instrumental feeling tight and stripped back, like it was made for a quick run through a sound system rather than a long wind-up.
