Old Ting Overview
In early 2013, a group of talented musicians and producers gathered in the studio to create a new soca rhythm. The arranger, known for his deep roots in island music, wanted to blend old-school soca sounds with a fresh energy for Carnival season. His creative direction was clear: respect the classics, but make it modern. The result was a rhythm that quickly became the heartbeat of Carnival 2013. Blaxx was one of the first artists to record on the new rhythm. His song, "Ten To One," brought his powerful vocals and energetic style to the track. Blaxx is well known in the soca world, especially for his hit "Leh Go," which became an anthem at Carnival celebrations. Devon Mathews joined with "Busy." His performance added a different flavor, showing his skill at getting crowds moving. Devon Mathews later became a Road March winner in Trinidad and Tobago, making his mark in soca history. Edwin Yearwood, a respected artist from Barbados, delivered "Ya Begging." Yearwood is famous as the lead singer of Krosfyah and for his classic hit "Pump Me Up." His experience brought a smooth, catchy sound to the collection. Fadda Fox brought "Baddest Wine" to the rhythm, giving the track a playful and danceable vibe. His style fit perfectly with the festive spirit of Carnival. Kerwin Du Bois’s "Fight D Feeling" added a modern twist. Du Bois is known for his songwriting and for winning the Groovy Soca Monarch title in 2014. The collection, with these standout songs, became a soundtrack for the parades and celebrations of Carnival 2013. Even today, it brings back memories of that unforgettable festival season.
