Now Thing Riddim came out in 1999 through How Yu Fi Sey Dat, with production handled by A. Cameron and the recording and mastering done by Collin “Bulby” York at Mixing Lab. That combination puts it squarely in the late-’90s dancehall run where the label favored sturdy, radio-ready juggling riddims with enough room for both veteran deejays and singers.

The rhythm itself rides a clipped, insistently forward steppers pulse, the sort of pattern that leaves space for chatty one-line hooks and sharper, more percussive phrasing. It has a lean, warehouse feel rather than a glossy crossover polish, and that raw edge suits the era. The version cut helps underline the riddim’s function as a proper juggling tool, not just a one-off backing track.

The lineup is deep, but the cuts worth pointing to are the mix of streetwise wit and vocal contrast. Lady Saw’s “Sloppy Inna Bed” brings her trademark blunt, playful authority. Sean Paul shows up in one of his earlier recording phases with “Dis Mi Family, ” “Report To We, ” and the Dutty Cup Crew combination “Dutty Passing, ” all before his international breakthrough. Anthony Red Rose pairs with Anthony Malvo on “Never Dis, ” while Red Rose also voices “Red Red Red, ” keeping his name central to the project’s identity. Merciless, Mad Cobra, Roundhead, Delly Ranks, Harry Toddler, Angel Doolas, Gentleman, Ninja Ford, and Zeno fill out a set that balances rough chat, slackness, and melody without losing the riddim’s tension.
