Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One turns up here with a compact two-track look at the Nimrod rhythm, pairing The Skatalites’ original 1965 instrumental with Damian Marley and Stephen Marley’s 2005 cut All Night. The set shows how a Studio One ska foundation could carry well into the modern era without losing its shape, and the contrast between the vintage horn-led original and the later Marley version is the key feature. Studio One, founded by Dodd in Kingston, was home to many of Jamaica’s early ska and reggae landmarks, and this release leans into that legacy with one of the label’s classic session-band sounds.
