NAVY BLUE RIDDIM produced by TRUE BLUE FAMILY 2000
Navy Blue Overview
In the year 2000, dancehall fans gathered in yards and street corners to hear the Navy Blue Riddim tape. This set started in the Kingston studio of TRUE BLUE FAMILY, a production team known for their fresh approach and sharp sound. TRUE BLUE FAMILY had already made waves with their label, building a name for themselves as creators of gritty, authentic dancehall riddims. The sound engineer, Delroy “Delly” Pottinger, shaped the mix with deep bass and crisp highs, giving the riddim its bold edge. Once the riddim was ready, word spread fast. Artists lined up to voice their tracks. Assassin brought energy with “Money Maker,” showing the lyrical skills that would later earn him international respect. Baby Cham delivered “Babylon Bwoy,” following the success of his hit “Ghetto Story” a few years later. Bounty Killer, already a dancehall legend and Grammy nominee, gave fans “Entourage” and “Ghetto Crown King,” both filled with his trademark authority. Buccaneer’s “21” added a unique style, while Harry Toddler’s “Hand Mi Di Fire” kept the dance moving. Each artist gave the riddim their own twist, but the tape held together as one strong set. When it dropped, the Navy Blue Riddim became a staple for 2000’s bashment parties, marking a proud moment for TRUE BLUE FAMILY and everyone involved.
