M.P.L.A. RIDDIM produced by 1ST RASTA RECORDS 2006
M.P.L.A. Overview
In 2006, a special reggae project brought together some strong voices. Anthony Que, Frankie Paul, and Tommy Trouble all came with their own style. Frankie Paul was already famous for his big hit “Sara” and his powerful voice. Anthony Que was known for his positive messages and steady rise in the reggae world. Tommy Trouble added his own roots flavor. Each artist put their mark on the riddim. Anthony Que sang “Jah Lift Me Up,” bringing hope and spiritual energy. Frankie Paul’s “No War” was a call for peace, something he often sang about. Tommy Trouble gave us “Old Gal New Gal,” showing his storytelling skills. The last track, “M.P.L.A Riddim” by Version, let the music shine on its own. The roots instrumental was the heart of this release. It stayed true to classic reggae, with deep bass and steady drums. 1ST RASTA RECORDS, the producer, is known for pushing roots reggae and working with both new and veteran artists. The label has a history of focusing on melodic, conscious music and has helped keep roots reggae alive in the 2000s. This compilation was played a lot in roots sets during 2006. DJs loved its timeless sound and the way it brought people together on the dance floor.
