Mad Blood Overview

The Mad Blood Riddim began as a lively idea in the heart of Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival season. Music arranger Shawn “Mr. Roots” Mitchell brought together the sounds that would make this riddim stand out. His careful work made sure each part of the track felt joyful and full of energy, perfect for the road and the stage. The producer behind the project, VARIOUS ARTISTS, is known for bringing together top talent in the soca world. Over the years, VARIOUS ARTISTS has produced several well-loved soca compilations, helping to push the genre to new listeners worldwide. Their releases have been streamed across the Caribbean and beyond, making an impact on the soca scene. When it came time to record, a small group of artists brought their own style and flavor. Blaxx, already famous for his hit “Leh Go,” added his voice to “Inna Band,” a song that quickly became a favorite during carnival. Lyrikal, known for his powerful stage presence, delivered “Out On De Road,” capturing the excitement and freedom of the festival. Problem Child teamed up with Tallpree for “Ah Think Ah Drunk,” a playful anthem that echoed through fetes and parades. Tallpree, a Grenadian soca star, was already celebrated for his classic “Old Woman Alone,” and with “Ah Think Ah Drunk,” he showed his ability to keep the crowd moving. From creation to release, Mad Blood Riddim captured the joyful spirit of Carnival 2012 and became a true anthem for that season.
