Long Way Riddim (2021) – Old Capital Records

Old Capital Records keeps this one heavy and meditative, with a roots pulse that feels made for sound system play. Released in April 2021 from the label’s base in Le Mans, Long Way Riddim is a compact three-cut set, and that lean lineup works in its favour: Anthony John opens with the title tune “Long Way, ” Stranjah Miller brings a steely uplift on “Overcome, ” and Junior Roy’s “Raggy Road” adds a more rugged, road-worn edge. Judi K’s production has that deep, spacious feel you’d expect from a French roots outfit that’s been cutting dubby one-riddims for years, and the whole thing sits nicely in the post-2020 wave of independent reggae projects that leaned back into conscious lyrics and stripped-down weight instead of overworked polish.
