Luna Riddim – Roda Music

Roda Music’s Luna Riddim sits neatly in the 2021 crop of reggae riddims, but it doesn’t feel overstuffed: eight cuts, including an instrumental, keep the focus tight and let the voice versions do the talking. Colly G brings a sharper edge to the title cut, while Kolia’s take feels a little looser and more melodic, which gives the riddim some welcome contrast. BC One, Doc, Don Cee and Don Gio each get a swing at it too, but the project’s real pull is the way Roda Music keeps the whole thing moving without crowding the arrangement. Released on February 1, 2021, it’s one of those compact riddims that captures a very specific early-2021 energy: lean, local, and made for replay rather than excess.
