Cuppa Tea Riddim – Young Culture Band

Running a lean four-track cut in 2021, Cuppa Tea Riddim keeps the focus on Young Culture Band’s own production and a small circle of voices: Richie Culture on “Hold Steady, ” Jugganaut on “Know Good, ” and Jah Mooly on “Sweet Reggae Music. ” The band come out of Birmingham, UK, and that background shows in the tidy, hands-on feel of the riddim, which keeps a conscious reggae pulse without crowding the singers. “Know Good” has the sharpest edge of the bunch, but the whole set stays close to the same lane, with a steady skank, warm bass pressure, and compact arrangements that leave each vocal riding the groove cleanly. It’s a short session, just under 12 minutes, and the title track closes it out in the same measured mid-tempo swing.
