LION’S RIDDIM (FRENCH REGGAE) – RUFF LIONS PROD & 7 SEALS RECORDS 2016
Lions Overview
In 2016, reggae music was seeing a revival of its roots sound, and the Lions Riddim compilation fit right into this movement. The riddim’s steady, organic beat and classic reggae groove made it stand out in a year when many artists were blending modern and traditional styles. This compilation gave listeners a strong connection to the foundation of reggae while still sounding fresh. The riddim itself was built by a producer who understood the importance of roots reggae. The focus on live-sounding drums and deep basslines helped set the mood for each artist, allowing their messages to shine. This approach kept the music grounded in the spirit of reggae’s early years. Jah Defender brought powerful energy to the track "Everytime I Rise." Known for his uplifting lyrics, Jah Defender’s work here continued his tradition of conscious reggae. Féfé Typical’s "Léonard Howell" paid tribute to one of reggae’s spiritual pioneers. Féfé Typical is recognized in the French Caribbean reggae scene, and his tribute added depth to the compilation. Shenzi Di Lion delivered "I Cant Live Without Jah," a song full of devotion and roots inspiration. Nayah’s "Belle La Vie" offered a melodic take, adding warmth to the collection. Jah Foul joined forces with Takana Zion for "Pour Mon Frère." Takana Zion, an artist from Guinea, is well known for his album "Rasta Government," which reached audiences beyond Africa.
