Light Riddim – Lyon House Muzik

Light Riddim comes out of Lyon House Muzik’s 2013 run with a tight ten-song cast and a distinctly roots-forward edge, the kind of one-riddim set that keeps the energy warm rather than flashy. Teflon opens the proceedings with “Journey” alongside P. O, while Sire Volt’s “That’S Nothing” and Daakinz’s “Do What We Do” keep the tempo moving in that steady, chant-ready lane. There’s a nice balance here between reflective cuts and tougher streetwise lines from Chaos, Empire Isis, and I Flames, so the riddim never feels locked into one mood for too long. Jah I Medz’ “Let It Rain” leans more meditative, but the sharpest pull comes from Slughead’s “Ghetto Youths Life, ” which closes the set with the kind of plainspoken pressure that leaves the tune ringing after the last note.
