Lecturer Riddim dates back to 1967, with Harry Mudie credited on the classic foundation and a long list of later producers and labels carrying it forward through the decades. The set brings together voices like Al Brown, Al Campbell, Admiral Tibet, Asher Senator and Smiley Culture, and Buju Banton, with cuts such as Black Crucials’ Dreadlocks Time and Buju Banton’s Gal You A Di Best adding strong recognition. Known also as The Lecture Riddim, it has remained a flexible roots-to-dancehall backbone, reworked across eras from the late 1960s into modern reggae and even dubplate culture.
