Lawva Riddim – Big Yard Music

Big Yard Music had a sharp little dancehall set on its hands with Lawva Riddim in 2006, and the cut that really catches the ear is Lady Saw’s “He Loves You, ” where her clipped, teasing delivery sits neatly against the riddim’s sly, party-ready swing. Kiprich comes at it from a tougher angle with “Wi Nuh Inna Dem, ” while Macka Diamond and Lady G turn “Too Sexy” into the kind of frontline combination tune that keeps a riddim lively. Black’s “Eryou Have It Lock Like” and Danielle’s “Hook Whine” add more colour to the lineup, and the version closes things out cleanly, with seven tracks in all.
