Yakuza Productions was already a name moving through the reggae-dancehall lane by 2015, and La Prospe Town Riddim sits right in that pocket with seven cuts and a tidy, no-nonsense setup. Carl Meeks opens things with Number One Selector, giving the riddim an old-school veteran touch, while Sammy Gold comes back twice, first on Badman In Spain and then on the sharper, more pointed Cool Down Mr. Officer. Junior Dread’s Gangsta and Pot Of Gold Soundsystem’s title cut keep the vibe rooted in sound system culture, with the latter sounding like the project’s anchor. It’s a compact various-artists release rather than a sprawling compilation, and that keeps the focus on the instrumental and the different voices riding it.
