Kakoo Riddim is a reggae foundation rhythm released in 2010. The riddim comes from Rootdown Records, a German label known for working with reggae and dancehall artists. Rootdown Records has helped introduce European listeners to Jamaican sounds and worked with acts like Nosliw and Sara Lugo. Many artists recorded their own songs on the Kakoo Riddim. Anthony B, a respected reggae singer from Jamaica, brought his strong voice to “Praise The King.” Anthony B is well known for hits like “Raid The Barn” and for his album “Untouchable,” which featured collaborations with Wyclef Jean and Snoop Dogg. Cali P, who is Swiss and Guadeloupean, added his track “Tek De Beam.” Dynamq, a South Sudanese reggae artist, performed “Boogie Rock.” Jaqee, a singer from Uganda and Sweden, recorded “Kokoo Girl.” Lloyd Brown, a British reggae veteran with a long career and several UK reggae chart songs, contributed “She Nah Easy.” The riddim also features tracks by Louie Culture, Maxim, Natural Black, Nosliw, and Rojah Phad Full, each bringing their own style. The dub engineer for this project helped give the riddim its smooth, timeless sound that fans remember from 2010 events.
