J. R. Productions’ 2005 Juggling Riddim has that busy, singer-friendly reggae pulse where each voice gets a clean run over the same frame, and the hooky cut here is Junior Reid’s “Dirty Shirt, ” which sits right at the center of the set with his rough-edged authority. Wada Blood and Andrew Blood keep “Watch Over Me” moving in a more prayerful direction, while Turbulence closes things out with “Love Rastafari, ” giving the riddim a tougher spiritual finish. Junior Lion’s “Jah Is Worthy” and Warrior King and Communche’s “Why Do We Fight” add to the sense that this one was aimed at conscious dancehall crowds rather than straight party business, and that mix of names gives the project a nice mid-2000s Kingston feel, right down to the no-frills six-cut lineup.
