Jook Yiy Riddim – Yard Vybz

Jook Yiy comes in lean and sharp: just four cuts, but the lineup gives the riddim plenty of weight. Yard Vybz keeps the production focused on straight dancehall pressure, with Wayne Marshall setting the tone on “Best Smoke” and Mr Vegas leaning into his usual easy patter on “Prase Him. ” Vybz Kartel’s “Yah Look” is the cut that hangs over the whole set, all clipped phrasing and streetwise bite, while New Kids’ “Mesh Merina” adds a younger voice to keep the pace moving. Released in November 2017, the project doesn’t overpack the idea; it runs on concise, late-night energy and leaves the cleanest impression with Kartel’s track, which feels like the one built to carry the riddim’s name.
