Jab Exists Riddim – Kay Frass Production

Down in Grenada’s 2019 soca season, Kay Frass pulled together a compact jab-riddim set that runs on tempo and attitude rather than excess. The line-up keeps the focus on the road-ready side of the genre, with Lavaman’s “Rivers and Ting” setting the pace, Runi Jay’s “Diagnosis” pushing it hardest, and cuts like “Spell It Right” by Hyena Jab and Sosa and “Have Me So Mad” from Bubbah 473 and Bandit adding different shades to the same sweaty groove. Kay Frass shapes the whole thing at a brisk 159 BPM, which gives the project that fast, hard-rolling feel soca fans lock onto when Carnival starts getting close. It’s only eight tracks, but the energy stays tight, with “Rivers and Ting” and “Diagnosis” doing a lot of the heavy lifting, and the rest falling in neatly behind them.
