I Nine Riddim – Big Yard Music

By 2008, Big Yard Music had the sort of grip on the airwaves that made a seven-cut juggling feel like a proper statement, and I Nine Riddim fits right into that run with Da’Ville’s “Dreaming” and Kiprich’s “Bun Fi Bun” doing a lot of the heavy lifting while Josey Wales cuts through with “Bedroom Master” and Wayne Fire brings the sharper edge on “Cyaan Wait. ” The rhythm itself moves with that clean, polished Big Yard swing rather than anything rough-hewn, leaving space for each voice to land without crowding the next, and Robert Livingston’s name is the one attached to the production, which tracks with the label’s tight late-2000s style.
