Meditative Sounds’ 2008 Stand Firm rhythm sits in that militant roots lane, with Ghetto Priest, Lancy Rankin and Ras Peter riding the same pressure-heavy cut while Liliestrand closes it out with the instrumental version. The release was mixed in Sweden and, according to the original notes, came out as a small three-7-inch run, with a dub cut folded in alongside the vocal sides. Lancy Rankin’s “Life” is the tune that gets the early nod, and Ghetto Priest’s title track keeps the whole thing grounded in conscious, uplift-the-people territory.
