Hotpepper comes in sharp and lean, with that 2008 dancehall pressure aimed straight at the dance, and the cuts from Little Di Lion, Dantony and Madniss set the tone with rude, catchy calls over a hard, club-ready rhythm. Perry Pecy’s “Wicked In Your Head” and Professy’s “Pression” keep the energy taut without overloading the riddim, while Vaine’s “Dj 972” and the Spi and Scientifik combination push the project into rougher, more local territory. The whole thing feels like one of those compact late-2000s sets where every voice is trying to leave a mark before the beat moves on, and Akaz closes it down with “Outro, ” which leaves the riddim hanging rather than neatly wrapped up.
