Hot Sun Overview
The 2022 Hot Sun Riddim parade set brought a wave of happiness to Carnival fans around the world. While many soca riddims of the era relied on heavy electronic beats, Hot Sun Riddim used live horn riffs and classic Caribbean percussion, making the sound feel both fresh and rooted in tradition. The parade set featured top soca artists, each bringing their own style. Lyrikal, known for his energetic performances, delivered “Candle,” a song that quickly became a crowd favorite. Viking Ding Dong added his own flavor with “Good Fete,” a track that kept the party going strong. Viking Ding Dong is well known for his lively stage presence and has performed at major Caribbean festivals. Nadia Batson’s “Coming Back Fuh Yuh” brought a soulful touch to the set. Nadia Batson, a respected songwriter and singer, is famous for her hit “So Long,” which was one of the most played soca songs at Trinidad Carnival 2019. Farmer Nappy’s “Ole Talk” rounded out the lineup, showing his skill in blending humor and rhythm. Farmer Nappy is celebrated for his long career and his 2021 Road March win with “Backyard Jam.” The arranger’s skill was clear in the way each song flowed into the next, keeping the parade energy high.
